You’ve finished your analysis and you’ve reached a result that the GBP looks strong and the CHF may get weaker. Or even the AUD is looking great against the CAD, but when looking at the trading platform and see that your broker doesn’t have GBPCHF or AUDCAD. Then it must be a missed opportunity, right? Definitely No! You can make a “synthetic” pair to go long on GBPCHF or AUDCAD.

To make a synthetic pairs by using the four major currency pairs and three commodity currencies is somehow to an extent easy.

All what is needed is to buy or sell two pairs with the same position sizes.
If you want to go long GBP against the CHF, or buy GBPCHF.
You will have to buy GBPUSD and buy USDCHF at the same time.

The only unexpectedly thing in here is making sure you buy the exact same equivalent amount of each pair.

Using this example, let’s say the prevalent exchange rate at the moment for GBPUSD is 1.9000 and the exchange rate for USDCHF is 1.2500 and you want to buy US $10,000 worth of each pair. Here’s what you do:

 - For pairs includes USD as the counter currency (i.e. AUDUSD, GBPUSD, EURUSD, etc.), then you would take the dollar amount you want to have and split it by the exchange rate:
= (desired position size) / (current rate of GBPUSD)
= US $10,000 / 1.9000
= 5263 Units of GBPUSD

 - For pairs includes USD as the base currency (i.e. USDCHF, USDJPY, USDCAD), just obtain the amount of units you want to buy because you are buying US dollars
 (Desired position size) * 1 Unit
= $10,000 * 1
= 10,000 Units
Then to buy US $10,000 of GBPCHF, you purchase 5,263 units of GBPUSD and 10,000 units of USDCHF.
Conclusion:
There are lots of trade opportunities introducing themselves in the forex market other than indicate what the Greenback will do any day - you know how to find them! Just remember:

• Do your satisfying analysis and unit the weak currencies with strong ones.
• If the pair you want to trade is not available with your broker? You know how to create synthetic pairs.
• Please be conforming to the dictates of conscience of pip value of the cross you want to trading
• On the days where you wont find any chances in the majors or there is volatility in the market you don’t want to get thorough due to the US news event, check some currency crosses.
